We understand that circumstances can change and, at times, families may find themselves needing to rehome a beloved dog. While Big Love Animal Rescue is not able to take in or assume responsibility for owned pets, we can offer resources to help you responsibly find a new home for your dog while they remain in your care.

Keeping your dog in a familiar, safe environment while searching for the right adopter is far less stressful for them and helps keep already overcrowded shelters from becoming their only option.

Courtesy Posts

Big Love Animal Rescue can help spread the word about your dog by creating a courtesy post on our website.

Interested adopters may complete Big Love Animal Rescue’s adoption application, which we will forward to you. We’re also happy to help you review potential adopters and offer guidance to help ensure your dog is placed in a safe, suitable, and loving home.

As the dog’s owner, you remain responsible for:

• Communicating with potential adopters
• Conducting meet-and-greets
• Making the final decision regarding placement
• Making the final rehoming arrangements
• All veterinary care and medical expenses for your dog

A courtesy post does not mean that your dog has been surrendered to or accepted into Big Love Animal Rescue.

Low-Cost Veterinary Resources

If your pet needs medical attention but cost is a concern, we may be able to help connect you with clinics that offer lower-cost veterinary care. Getting your pet healthy and addressing any known medical needs can make the rehoming process easier and help prepare them for their future family.

While Big Love Animal Rescue cannot cover veterinary expenses for owned pets, we’re happy to share resources and help point you toward more affordable options whenever possible.

Attend Our Adoption Events

You are also welcome to bring your dog to select Big Love Animal Rescue adoption events to meet potential adopters.

To participate:

• Your dog must be up to date on vaccinations and healthy
• Your dog must be friendly and safe around people and other dogs
• Your dog must arrive wearing a properly fitted Martingale collar and secure leash
• You must contact us in advance and let us know which event you plan to attend
• You must remain with and be responsible for your dog for the entire event

Your Dog Remains Your Responsibility

Big Love Animal Rescue’s involvement is intended to provide exposure, resources, and guidance to help you find the right home for your dog.

We do not take ownership or custody of the dog, guarantee placement, or provide veterinary or financial support. While we are happy to help review potential adopters and offer our guidance, the final decision and responsibility for rehoming your dog remains with you.

Rehoming a dog takes time and effort, so please begin the process as early as possible. If you know you will be moving, traveling, or facing another life change, don’t wait until the last minute. Your dog depends on you to give them the time necessary to find a safe, appropriate home rather than risk surrendering them to an already overcrowded shelter.

Our goal is to help you reach more potential adopters while giving your dog the best possible chance of transitioning directly from one loving home to another.
