Stay in touch and be the first to find out everything we are doing!
At Big Love Animal Rescue, our mission is to create the best possible match between our rescued dogs and loving adoptive families. We thoughtfully consider each dog’s unique background, personality, and needs to ensure a successful and lasting adoption.
We primarily place dogs in Southern California, and we’re very selective about the homes we choose. While we don’t typically adopt out-of-state, we have made exceptions when the fit is truly perfect.
Every dog is different—some are great with kids, some love other dogs (or cats), some have special medical needs, and others are just 8-week-old puppies going through that mischievous stage. One thing is always true: each dog has their unique personality, temperament, and breed-specific traits that must be thoughtfully considered.
We take all of these factors into account when recommending a match. Our goal isn’t just to find a home—it’s to find the right home. A furever home.
That’s why we focus on making thoughtful, personalized placements—so every adoption is a happy and permanent one.
Thank you for choosing to adopt and for opening your heart to a rescue dog.
If You're Not Chosen:
If your family isn’t selected for the dog you applied for, please don’t be discouraged—and please try again!
Some of our dogs receive a lot of interest, and while we wish we could place them with every loving applicant, each pup can only go to one forever home.
But that doesn’t mean your perfect match isn’t still out there.
Stay Connected
We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Once your application review is complete, a Big Love Animal Rescue volunteer will send you several interview questions to fill out. These questions and your answers will help us ensure that the pet you selected is the appropriate fit for you. These questions will also require you to submit a video of your home as part of our "virtual home visit" process.
Once approved to adopt, a volunteer will schedule a time for you and your family (including current dogs) to meet the Founder of the rescue and your chosen pet at our meet-and-greet location in the Valley. This meet and greet will ensure that all parties are happy with the match and also gives you a chance to ask the Founder any questions you may have.
If the Meet and Greet goes well, you will take your chosen pet home that same day for a short trial period (typically 3-5 days). You will be provided with a small amount of food, a leash, collar, and tag, as well as instructions for this period of time. During the trial period you will be sending us updates via text or email with photos to let us know how everything is going. At the end of the trial, if everything went well, we will send you a contract and payment information. Your dog will then be officially yours!
